with any of the coordinators for more details.

What are coordinators ?

Coordinators are stations that is actively over seeing the plans and
activities of the project.  Coordinators is a team of dedicated hams who
believes in the objective of the projects and it's future. They are members
of different Ham clubs.

What  are the Objectives of the MRILP?

The main objective is to provide information about the Internet-Linking
system. The second objective is to help provide links to connect different
communities. The Third objective is providing a venue where all clubs
can participate in and help each other with activities related to the hobby.
The fourth objective is to provide a network for Hams to use in sending
Emergency, Priority and Routine traffics in an emergency.
F.A.Q.
<>THE MAIN OBJECTIVE<>

The main purpose of the MRILP Project is to share available information
about the internet linking systems. The Project is open to all hams. The
MRILP is not an organization, it is a project created by hams for hams.
The MRILP website is at http://www.mrilp.org .

The project started in May of 1997. The system used then was the
Iphone Voice to IP program. Using a homebrew VOX kit as the interface
between the radio and the computer. The first RF-VOX interface to
Internet and voice patch to RF was between Manila and California.

<>AND THEN THERE WERE THREE<>

After Manila and Califonia ,the third participant to get on board the
project was from the Island of Guam. There were a lot of changes
happening in the Voice to IP systems. The IRLP, a linux
based Voice to IP was introduced and commercial Instant messages
systems like MSN and Yahoo have gotten popular to internet users. The
Project acquired 2 IRLP boards but was never considered for the project.
Instead it concentrated on the Window based programs and alternately
used yahoo, net meeting, speak freely and Iphone in their experiments.

<>FOUR AND MORE<>

Manila, California, Guam and then Vancouver British Columbia was fourth
and then more. The project started to swing and in May of 2001 the ILINK
system created by M0CSH , Graeme Barnes was introduced. One of the
first Homebrew Interface revision B prototype was first used by the
project. This was created by WB2REM/Jim Millner using a perforated
board.  Then commercially made revision B Interface boards became
available and the VA3TO board. Next comes the link in Winnipeg
Manitoba and then the link in Edmonton, Alberta.

<>OBJECTIVE II OF THE MRILP<>

The second main objective of the MRILP is to connect the communities
and create new friends. Starting from 6 links,  now it has grown ten fold.
Clubs and stations unselfishly created links for their respective
communities. This connection gave the opportunity for hams to know
other local hams. With this links, clubs can now use it for sending traffic
and in the future would be useful for emergency communications. And
with the help of all hams we can see a bright future for Ham Radio, a
community connected and a Ham friend always waiting  for a call.
